One thing that I love about the craft store is that they usually have wooden items that are unpainted. Because Halloween is approaching, they had some wooden coffins that made noises when you opened them. We found out at home that the noises only happen when it is opened in the light. My son really wanted to get it. I put some black craft paint in an empty plastic gum container, gave him a brush, and let him paint it. It was hard for him to wait for the paint to dry, and then having to paint the other side. I helped a little bit by making sure the whole thing got painted.
He had picked out a sheet of fun stickers for the coffin.
He put the stickers on by himself.
This project was 95% child made, and 5% mommy painting missed areas.
He really loves this coffin. With a smile on his face, he says that the noises scare him.
He is loving Halloween.
He did a great job! I think it's a wonderful way to involve your child in craft time!
