Garrison House Quilt Show

33rd Annual Quilt Show at the Garrison House

This is my 2nd year going to this quilt show, and this is the first time that I have had a quilt in a show.
This is a long post, but I'm not even showing half of the beautiful quilts that were there.
It was also nice seeing so many familiar quilts and names from my quilt guild.

Here is the crib quilt that I entered.  It was hard to take a picture of it since it was in the hall way.  I designed it and made it when I was pregnant with my second child.

Here I am with the owner of the quilt, my youngest son.

"Sampler" by Jane Castle
"Winter Aspens" by Inge Berry

"Gee's Bend Replica Housetops" by Anne Boucher

"Grampy's Shirts" By Carol O'Riorden
"Winter Nights" by Jean Whiting
"Butterfly Applique" Loaned by Peter Leonard
This on was an old quilt.  Some of the fabric was missing in areas.
"Paul & Amanda's Wedding Quilt" by Jean Whiting
"Crocodile Rock" pieced by Karen Smith & quilted by Sue Ahnrud
"Poppies" by Inge Berry
"Learning Curve" by Amy Lindsay
"Storm at Angle Pond" by Sharon Bogin
"Nine Patch in a Square" by Carol O'Riorden
"Gee's Bend Replica Lazy Gall" by Jeanne Alwine
"Berry Picnic" by Kathy Murphy
This quilt is being raffled.
It was made by Marsha Conti to honor veterans at the 2004 ship reunion of the USS Caperton.
"Hearts" by Anne Boucher

There was a small house full of embroidery items.

This quilt was made from the same brand of men's shirts.  The labels were using in the design.

They had a cute little tea, coffee, and snack area.
My son did not want his picture taken.
That is until he was being silly with a lemon wedge.
It was also a lovely time, because I had tea with Anne Gallo and her daughter.
Anne Gallo had a whole room dedicated to the quilts that she and Sue Raban had made.

*Some quilts are not titled because I forgot to take a picture of it's number so that I could look it up in the program.

  1. I haven't been to very many quilt shows, but I love them when I have the opportunity to! I displayed one of my own (well, actually, my ONLY completed one) in a show once. I enjoyed the experience... Your Christmas Tree quilt is beautiful!!! I have always wanted to make either a Christmas quilt or a Christmas afghan someday. I think the trick for me, to EVER get one actually made, is to do it in the summer. I tend to put it off, because it feels too early; and next thing you know, it gets much too busy to even THINK about by the time winter and the holidays roll around!.. "One of these days", I guess, right?!!.. Hope you're enjoying your weekend! ~tina

  2. I haven't been to very many quilt shows either, but they are wonderful. I usually start a holiday quilt after the holiday, because I like to buy the fabric on sale. This Christmas quilt was made in the Spring using fabric that I bought 4 or 5 years earlier. Thanks for your nice comment Tina :) Have a wonderful weekend to :)

  4. Very cool...thanks for sharing...do you have the desire or time to make a t-shirt quilt for me. It's something I have been saving a lot of shirts to make, but I just don't seem to have the time to do it. Let me know if you would like to take on that project and what you would charge. We could also barter if you would like some free gymnastics classes for you little guy.

  5. Melissa, I had a hard time to. All of these ones are my favorites.

Funky Mommy, unfortunately I don't even have the time to work on my own quilts. However if you would like, I can see if anyone at my quilt guild would be interested. You would get a more experienced quilter that way.
