Quilt Blocks

My local quilt shop is hosting a "Stash Party Pinwheel" block of the month for 1 year starting this month.    I decided to combine this block of the month with the two color challenge from my quilt guild.  The two color challenge is a black and white quilt with one other color that is picked out of a bag.  I pulled a green crayon out of the bag, so I'm making a green, black, and white quilt that is due in April.  Since I want to make a bed sized quilt, I am making 4 of the pinwheel blocks (each month) for the 2 color challenge quilt and an extra 5th block for the pinwheel sample quilt.  I was so excited to start the pinwheel blocks, that I didn't stop.  I continued sewing quilt blocks for other guild projects that I am involved in.

Here is my first box exchange block of the year.
Very simple 9"x9" block pieced onto muslin.

Here is my 1st paper pieced box exchange block of the year.
This one was intimidating, but it did turn out very lovely.

I went to my quilt guild's website the other day to look up something, and there were my box exchange blocks from 2 years ago (on the left).  I really want to finish that quilt next year.

  3. I love your pinwheels. I made a baby quilt for our oldest before he was born using pinwheels so seeing them always makes me smile. The paper pieced does look challenging.

  4. Everything looks so pretty. How fun that you chose a crayon to determine the color. I haven't tried paper piecing either--I like how yours turned out. Thanks for linking :).
