Yoga Mat Bag & Earphone Keeper

Here is how far I got with my yoga mat bag yesterday.  Today I finished the actual bag, and now I am working on the strap.  In other yoga news, my 4 year old went to yoga with me today and loved it.  

A few days ago my husband sent me a link on how to keep my earphones from getting tangled or lost while keeping them near my cell phone (I don't like talking with my cell phone to my ear).  The solution was to sew on two buttons and wrap the cord around them.  So I picked up these buttons on clearance for 50 cents and sewed them on.  After using it like this all day, it would have been better to get bigger buttons or to have used 3 buttons.

4th of July Weekend

Sunday I finished knitting a 2nd iPhone hoodie, this time with worsted weight yarn.  I like this one better, even though it isn't as pretty.

I also finished sanding the 24 cardboard tubes that I had cut for my bangle class.  This is the parts that I had to peel off before sanding.  A friend came over today while I was sawing a 2nd tube.  She asked to try it, and the next thing I knew the whole tube was sawed.  Wow!  She was enjoying herself.

My in-laws were visiting this weekend, and my mother-in-law asked for help learning how to crochet.  After showing her some basics, she said that her mother, an avid crocheter, wanted to learn how to make a fanciful flower potholder.  She enjoys figuring out patterns on her own.  So I started making the potholder for her last night, and this is how far I got when my in-laws left this morning.  My mother-in-law took it with her unfinished, because it would be easier for her mother to figure out how it was made. I did show my mother-in-law what I did and what needed to come next so that she could relay it on to her mother, plus she can send a picture of the one that I made for her along with this one (to Puerto Rico).  It is strange not finishing a present for someone.

Well it was 4th of July yesterday, and hanging on my door is my plastic bag patriotic wreath.

It uses about 150 plastic bags, including blue newspaper bags.

We went to the beach on Sunday and here are some of the pictures that I took there.

Then Sunday night and Monday morning was my town's County Fair.

My church makes fresh "Holy Donuts" that they sold on Monday.  They are yummy.

iPhone Hoodie

Tuesday night I finished knitting my iPhone hoodie.  It is a little big, probably because I used sock yarn instead of worsted weight yarn.  I started a new one last night using Vanna's Choice yarn.  I do like this one though.  It's soft and I love that the headphones can fit in the front pocket.

Cars Tags and iPhone Hoodie

I die cut some more tags today, this time out of a Cars themed juice box paper (Juicy Juice).

This is a picture of the iPhone hoodie when we were ready to leave the park.  I get more knitting and crocheting done when out of the house or at night (after the kids go to bed) when watching tv with my husband.  Today I learned how to do a 3 needle bind off for the bottom of the hoodie.  One of the sleeves is finished.  I'm expecting to have this finished within the next day or two.

Sackbot has a face

Because my oldest son thought that the sackbot (wooden robot sackboy) was to dark, he wanted me to add a face to it thus turning it into a sackboy.  So I went to the craft store and found these buttons, which I thought were awesome, and sewed them onto the sackbot.   

My son said that it was strange.  Not good strange, not bad strange, just strange.  At least my husband likes him.  My son did take him and added him to his collection.  I think the eyes make him look dizzy or hypnotized.  While at the store I saw some 3D horn buttons.  Now I want to make a devil sackboy.

This cozy, which now houses my phone, is not new.  I made it sometime last year.  There is no pattern either.  I just garter stitched it and decreased it for the amount that I needed for my phone.  I'm sharing it today because the button is new.  It had no button closure before.  There is a braided loop that wraps around the button, and then you pull on the knotted ends to tighten it.  This is a temporary cosy while I make the iPhone hoodie.  I figured out why the iPhone hoodie looks to small.  I am using to small of a needle.  The pattern calls for size 3 needles and mine are smaller than that.  I think that they might be a size one.  Thats what I get for not checking the needle size first.

ATC, Hoodie, & Sackbot

I made this artist trading card the other day using watercolors and a black pen.

It was so easy to make that I made 8 more to trade.

I've been working on my iPhone hoodie / cosy today.  Its my current on-the-go project.  The picture on the left is where I left off yesterday, and the picture on the right is where I am currently at with this project.  My concern right now is that it might be to small for my iPhone.  I might need to use thicker yarn for the next one.

Its a little late, but I finally finished the sackbot sackboy for my oldest son.  I used cardboard from some CapriSun boxes for the inside instead of my usual plushie stuffing, that way he would be more blocky.   My son thinks that it is to dark and that he doesn't really look like a sackbot, so now he wants me to add eyes to it.  Not a problem.  I'll just add some wooden buttons to it. 

I found this little guy in the sandbox today.

iPhoodie & ATC

Summer Heat

I made this artist trading card yesterday.  I used a card that I had watercolor painted on last week, then I just drew on top of it with a black pen.  

Today I cast on some sock yarn to make an iphoodie (and i phone hoodie).  Basically it is a cute cozy that looks like a hooded jacket.  The pictures above shows you my progress so far today, while I was hanging out outside while my youngest son played.

I finished another project today, but I'm waiting to share it because it is for a swap.
