Happy National Pig Day!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
"National Pig Day is an event held annually on March 1 in the United States to celebrate the pig. The holiday celebration was started in 1972 by sisters Ellen Stanley, a teacher in Lubbock, Texas, and Mary Lynne Rave of Beaufort, North Carolina.[1][2][3] According to Rave the purpose of National Pig Day is "to accord the pig its rightful, though generally unrecognized, place as one of man's most intellectual and domesticated animals."[2] The holiday is most often celebrated in the Midwest.[4]"

Here is a mini pig round-up, lol, so to speak.

I went a little nuts making the same amigurumi pig over and over again one year.  Then I gave them to people on National Pig Day.  Here is the free pattern for it from lionbrand.  Here are 3 free pig patterns from lionbrand.  The gift bag above was pink to begin with, then I added felt and large google eyes to turn it into a pig bag.
Since this isn't much of a round-up, here are the results of a google image search for pig crafts.

  1. Does that mean pork for supper? Reminds me of the story of the little girl who cleaned up her pet pig, put a bow around his neck, fed him some warm milk and the minute she turned her back he was out wallowing in the mud. Guess I'll stick to crocheting them!

  2. Ewwww, no pork/pig for super. I don't eat animals. Plus it just seems weird to eat something that is just as smart if not smarter than a dog. Crocheting them is very fun though.
