I finished crocheting my plastic bottle drawstring bag last night. Yes, it does look rather funny. I'm thinking about making something to put in the center of the front and back of the plastic bottle. Maybe a patch, maybe a flower. I'm not sure yet.
I do like that the bottom is clear. Its nice to see what is inside.
This would be a good small project bag, specially for yarn projects.
The top is crochet to be the same length as the bottom so that when it is open it will look like this.
Directions: Cut the top off of a Juicy Juice or other large plastic bottle. Make sure the bottle is clean. You can clean any stick label parts off with Goo Gone
. Punch holes all around the top. Using a tapestry needle, make a blanket stitch through the holes. I used a size E crochet hook and crochet one to three times in each blanket stitch (depending on how wide the stitch was). Next single crochet the next round. Then double crochet the rest of the rounds. When finished, slip stitch in the next two stitches. For the scalloped edge, double crochet 7 stitches into one stitch, skip a stitch, 1 double crochet in next stitch, skip a stitch, and repeat. Finish with a slip stitch. I made a long chain stitch for the draw string handles. I wove them around the single crochet stitches in the last round.
What are your thoughts on this bag? Do you have any suggestions on how I can improve this one or the next one that I make?
