ATCs

The other day I was inspired to draw some more ATCs (artist trading cards).

This one is called "The Last Burst of Light."

I recently did an ATC trade with knityoga (ravelry name) who lives in England.  This is the ATC that I received from her.  Isn't is cool?  I love that she did embroidery / string art on an ATC.

She also sent me 2 fabric postcard that she had made.  I sent her 3 ATC's, 2 originals and 1 photo copy of one.  Some of mine are hard to give up/trade, so I made copies of them on card stock.

Pinwheels & Oven Pad

It took a few days to make, but I made 5 of the 4th pinwheel block this week.  It looks like a simple pattern, but there was a lot of work in making 5 of them.  There are 20 half square triangles in each block, multiply that by 5 and you have 100 half square triangles that needed to be cut, marked, sewn, ironed, recut/squared, sewn, ironed, sewn, ironed, and squared, etc.  I'm really happy that I finished it weeks before I need to turn it in to get the pattern for the 5th block.

I pieced four of them together like I did with the previous pinwheel blocks.  Its not perfect, but that is ok.  

I've been following a blog on making things out of fabric salvages.  So I've started saving my salvages separately from my other fabric scraps.  After saving 4 salvaged pieces, I made this oven pad / hot pad.  The two pictures show the front and the back of it.  I used some pink girlie skull ribbon for the hanger.  It seemed to fit with the color scheme.  Now I want to make another black and white quilt but with pink as my 3rd color.  The binding is far from perfect, however I am fine with that.

Happy Birthday (Bags)

My oldest son is turning 11 this week, and his party is on Saturday.  I finished sewing 10 goodie bags for the party.  I only needed to make 9 though.

 I made them just like I would a reusable shopping bag.  I then cut out a food box and used it as a label.  I numbered 7 of them 1 - 7.  I left a space to write the child's name, otherwise they can just remember which number is theirs.

The larger cat tag is for my youngest son's bag.  Both of my kids have their name on their tags / bags.  The goodie bags are packed and ready for the party.

Last month I fused a bunch of plastic bags.  Yesterday I turned 2 sheets of them into bags.  This one is slightly clear.

The orange bags were given to me by an employee at Jo Anns.  I thought that the Boston Globe pink was a nice touch for the top of the bag.  Its a tall, thin bag, perfect for a bottle of wine.

I actually used these two bags to wrap some of my son's presents in.
