Bracelets & Ornaments

I've been preparing for the craft fair that I am in on November 20th.  You can look under "Events" on my website for more information.  One of the things that I've been making are soda tab bracelets.  The ones on the right are not finished.  I still need to add a jewelry part to them, and then I can cut the ribbon.  The bracelets vary in size: small, medium, and large.

Today during a leadership program that I needed to attend, I crochet these fuzzy plastic bottle ring wreath ornaments.  I'm thinking of glueing google eyes on them to make them monster wreaths.  These will also be for sale at the craft fair.

Tuesday Tot Craft Time: Scarecrow Paper Dolls

We went to the library's craft drop in today.  Today's craft was making paper scarecrows.  They provided the kids with 3 pieces of paper: an outline of a person, overalls, and a shirt and hat.  They also had markers, scissors, and glue sticks.

While my son colored the clothes, I cut out the person.  When he was finished with the clothing, then we switched.  He colored shoes on the person, drew a face, and added hair to it.  While he was doing that, I cut out the clothes.

Next I applied the glue to the back of the clothes and he stuck them on the person.

Voila!  Cute little scarecrows.  To make this project more "green,"  cut the people out of cardboard food boxes.  Use scrap paper, magazines, or used wrapping paper for the clothes.  You could also use scrap fabric for the clothing.

Best Bunny III & Friends

After seeing the bunny that I made for a baby shower, my 3 year old wanted another bunny.  He wanted the body the same color as the baby shower one, but he wanted it to have dark blue ears (his favorite color).  I had run out of blue Vanna's Choice yarn, so I let him pick out the color that he wanted from the store.  I finished making the bunny last night.

Here are all of the bunnies that I have made him with links to the free patterns.  Best BunnyChocolate Bunny, and Bella Bunny (white bunny).  I made the chocolate bunny and some carrots for his first Easter.  Bella bunny was made for his second Easter.  The blue best bunny was made because he told me one night that he loves blue bunnies.  He wrapped a small boa around his blue bunny.  He has been sleeping with all of his bunnies this week.  Its really cute.  It really feels good when your child (or anyone for that matter) really loves something that you made for them.

Scrubbies & Juice Pouch Notebooks

Here are the scrubbies that I have been working on here and there this month.  They are a great on-the-go and t.v. watching project.  Here is the pattern that I followed.  I doubled the pattern, so I cast on 36 stitches and knitted 40 rows to get this size.

I like to make extras when preparing for a class, that way the kids have a choice.  With the left overs from my Saturday class, I sewed together 21 juice pouch notebooks last night.  I'll be selling these at a craft fair on November 20th.  You can see the events page of my website for more info.

Best Bunny II

I made this bunny as a present for a baby shower today.  It was funny that most of the animals that she was given were bunnies.  After seeing this bunny, my son wanted another bunny.  He has a blue one with green ears already (his favorite stuffed animal).  He now wants a white one with dark blue ears.  I guess I know what I'll be making tonight.  This bunny pattern was free from Lionbrand.  I used Vanna's Choice yarn and a size G hook.

Class & New Website

Today I taught a juice pouch notebook class to 7 kids at the Somerville Library in Somerville, MA.  It was fun, and hopefully I'll be teaching more classes there in the future.  If you would like to see instructions on how to make this notebook, click here.

In other news, my website is up and running again.  My website is www.textiles4you.com.  It is still under construction, but you can see where I will be teaching and selling at, read about me, and view some of my products.  The online shop is currently closed until I can finish working on all the pages and get it connected to paypal.  What is great about this newer version of my website is that it is cleaner / clearer, has multiple pages, and I can manage it all by myself.  The last one I needed my husband to help me post changes on the internet.  Now I can update it and edit it just like my blog.  I'm still learning the program, but so far so good.  I hope that you like it.

Preparing for a Juice Pouch Notebook Class

I am teaching a juice pouch notebook class this Saturday at the Somerville Library.  In preparation for it, I have been cleaning the sticky straw part off of over 60 juices pouches this week.  The inside of them were cleaned months ago.  However after you remove the plastic from where the straw was stuck to it, it leaves a sticky residue.  I only need 32 juice pouches for the class since there is a 15 child limit for it.  However I like the kids to have options, and any left over will be made into things for my upcoming craft fair.  I'll be posting the details of the craft fair this weekend.  However I can tell you that it is on November 20th.

In other news, I finished making another present for my Christmas swap partner.  The mail out deadline is this month.  Now I am working on making the packaging / gift wrapping for everything.  We aren't suppose to spend any money on making the items, which makes this swap extra fun (and it really is fun).

I also finished editing episode 28 of my t.v. show.  It is a second Halloween episode.  I show how to make the hoop jack-o-lanterns, egg carton spiders, lollipop wrapper origami ornaments, and glue ghosts.

I've also run into a blogger problem this week.  It seems that I have run out of free photo space and they want me to start paying for more space.  I have 2 options right now, either delete older non-tutorial posts or have my husband help move the photos onto his web server space.  I'll try the 2nd option 1st.  I'm also working on my website which has a blog option.  Basically I'm getting a big ol' brain cramp.
