Bangles & Paper Beaded Bracelet / Anklet
Yesterday I wrapped some more cardboard bangles. The center two were made last week, but I made the others yesterday. I've gotten some great compliments on these. I'm hoping to sell some at a craft fair in November.
On Friday I am teaching a paper bead bracelet class at the library. I wanted to show the kids how to string the paper beads up in a different way. This way requires two needles that are threaded on each side of the thread. I used embroidery floss for the thread, because I have plenty on hand and it adds some color to the bracelet. The two sides of the thread go in opposite sides of the bead and criss-cross until the end of the bracelet. All of these beads were cut down so that they were all around the same width. I measured the length of the bracelet as I went by wrapping it around my wrist. I stopped at what I thought was the perfect size. As it turns out it has some stretch to it. So it is to big for my wrist, but it does make a nice anklet. When finished, I sprayed a clear coat on both sides of it. I used a magazine that didn't have a lot of color to it, but it is easy to make colored paper beads. I cut up two thick magazines yesterday into triangles in preparation for this class. This is a great way to recycle unwanted magazines/catalogues.

ReplyDeleteHmmm, I hope I haven't just double-commented you (difficulty with my connection). I adore paper beads, and the way you have strung yours together into the bracelet is lovely :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cool bracelet! Always a fan of recycling. Thanks for sharing ... I've posted a link.
